Are you unable to get a hold of your sugar cravings? It’s time to prepare a rum cake ahead of World Rum Day celebrations on July 13, 2024. Here is a quick recipe to try out.
For Cake 4 large eggs, 3 egg yolks ½ cup dark rum 1 cup brown, granulated sugar 2 tsp vanilla extract 1 tsp almond extract ¾ tsp salt 2.5 cup flour 20 grams unsalted butter For Glaze Pinch of salt ¼ cup water 2 tbsp dark rum 10 grams unsalted butter 1 cup sugar
While the oven preheats at 165°C, whisk eggs, rum, vanilla extract, egg yolks, and almond extract in a bowl.
In a separate bowl, mix all the dry ingredients. Use an electric mixture to combine wet and dry ingredients.
Add butter and salt to the batter and mix again using the mixer.
Transfer the batter to the cake mould and bake for at least an hour or until the toothpick comes out clean.
Prepare the glaze by combining the ingredients. Spread it all over the cake once it is baked and has cooled off a bit.
Serve the cake after refrigerating for a couple of hours and enjoy.
