Raita is the side dish that makes any Indian meal complete, especially lunch. However, you don't have to eat the same old raita every time, as this mango twist to the traditional dish perfectly captures the essence of the summer season.
1 ripe mango 1 cup plain yoghurt 1/2 teaspoon roasted cumin powder 1/4 teaspoon black salt (kala namak), or regular salt to taste Fresh cilantro leaves A pinch of red chilli powder
Yoghurt should be smoothed out in a mixing bowl. Combine the black salt (or ordinary salt) with the chopped mango and roasted cumin powder.
Toss to coat the mango with yoghurt and spices, distributing them evenly. Add a dash of red chilli powder and chopped cilantro leaves as garnishes for some taste and visual appeal.
Let the flavours of the mango raita marry by chilling it in the fridge for approximately half an hour before serving.
With biryani, pulao, or any other Indian dish, serve chilled as a cool side dish.
