Lemon and alcohol are a match made in heaven. But the strange part about this cocktail is that: a) It's not made with lemons b) In Brazil, they call it Swiss lemonade c) It's not Swiss
The general theory is that the Portuguese word for the Tahitian lime used is Limon Taiti, which English speakers then translated to LEMONade.
And the Swiss part is attributed to the condensed milk, which came in Nestle cans bearing the image of a Swiss milkmaid.
7 fresh limes 9 cups ice-cold water 250 ml sweetened condensed milk 1½ cup white rum Ice
In a blender, add the whole limes and blend until smooth.
Strain out the pulp and seeds and then pour it back into the blender with rum and condensed milk.
Blend on high speed until frothy and serve over ice.
