Made with urad dal and millet, the recipe for rotte is a healthy addition to your diet. It needs a few ingredients and can be prepared without a hassle. Check out how Priyanka Pandey makes this delight at home.
For Rotte 1 cup Urad dal 1 cup Little millet 1 cup Idli Rava For seasoning 1 tsp Cumin seeds 3 nos green chillies 1-inch grated ginger 7 tbsp oil Salt to Taste
Wash urad daal and millet. Soak them in water for 5 hours. Rinse idli rava and soak it as well.
Add urad daal and, a little millet in a wet grinder, and pour water, about 1/4 cup at a time to make a soft fluffy smooth batter. Mix it with soaked idli rava.
Add cumin, green chillies and grated ginger to the batter. Heat oil in a heavy bottom iron wok kadhai, and pour batter at the centre.
Add oil and spread it around the batter. Cover and cook on a slow flame till golden. Don't flip in between till cooked nicely.
Once the base is done, flip it over and let the other side cook. Add more oil if needed. Once cooked, switch off the flame.
Serve dibba rotte hot with coconut moringa chutney and avakaya pachadi (mango pickle).
