Some people believe raw milk is better for their health, while others prefer pasteurised milk. Although there are reasons that support both choices, it depends on each individual's preference and health. So, here are five major areas in which both milk types differ.

Raw Milk

It is fresh milk directly from the source that has not undergone any processing. It contains no additives and all the naturally occurring nutrients are present.

Pasteurised Milk

This type of milk goes through the process of pasteurisation, where the milk rapidly warms and cools to eliminate bacteria such as salmonella, E. coli, etc.

Safety

The chances of potentially harmful microorganisms in raw milk are higher than in pasteurised milk since the latter goes through pasteurisation, which eliminates many bacteria.

Flavour

The process of pasteurisation alters the taste of the milk, which many people may not like. Raw milk, however, is creamy, fresh, and flavourful.

Proteins

Raw milk comprises 8 essential amino acids out of 9, whereas 20% of the total milk proteins are not heat stable and may get useless during the pasteurisation process.
