Ranch water, a simple tequila cocktail, is an excellent way to cool off on a sultry sunny day. The bubbly, acidic lime flavour of ranch water makes it the perfect summer drink. You only need a minute and three ingredients to whip up this low-sugar cocktail.
Ranch water has been a staple in the dry ranch land of western Texas since at least the 1960s, though its creator and precise debut date are both unknown.
According to legend, a bottle of Topo Chico was cracked open by ranch hands, and after a few drinks, a shot of tequila was added.
Ranch water, whatever its origins, became popular in Texas watering holes. It took decades, but numerous brands sell it as a canned drink today.
