Ramasseri idli comes from Ramasseri, near Palakkad, Kerala. This variant of South Indian staple is comparatively large, thin, and soft. Here is a quick recipe that you can follow to make this delight at your home.
1 cup whole white unpolished urdal dal 4 cups idli rice 4 tsp salt 1 tbsp fenugreek seeds 1 cup cooked rice Water as needed
Rinse and soak urad dal, idli rice, and fenugreek seeds.
Blend them with cooked rice into a smooth paste.
Let the batter ferment for about 7-8 hours.
Use a bamboo steamer lined with muslin cloth or butter paper.
Drop a ladle of the batter and let it cook.
Serve soft and large idlis with sambar and chutney.
