Iftar is when you break the fast post-sunset, and the spread often contains delicious snacks. The snacks must be healthy if you have to continue fasting for the entire holy month of Ramadan. Whether you are calling friends for the feast or enjoying it with your family, here are a couple of healthy options that you must try.
Imagine fasting the whole day and gorging on chicken tikka for Iftar. Marinated pieces of meat grilled until they become tender are among healthy starters.
Fruit chaat is the healthiest option to add either to Suhoor or Iftar. From seasonal fruits to tropical ones, you can serve a variety of tangy chaat for the spread.
Kebabs are also a healthy snacking option for Iftar. Spiced minced meat or vegetables shaped into patties and shallow fried are delicious options for the after-sunset meal.
If you are looking for a fulfilling snack, haleem, made with meat and lentils is a must-have for Iftar. It is flavoured with aromatic spices that make it irresistible.
In most countries, devotees break their fast and begin Iftar by eating dates. You can either eat them as they are or consume coconut date balls or stuffed dates.
Another healthy and popular choice for Iftar spread is dahi vada. Deep-fried urad dal vadas are dipped in a tangy-spicy concoction of curd, red chilli, and chutney.
Though deep-fried, fresh pakoras made with chopped vegetables dipped in a seasoned chickpea flour batter can be a healthy pick. You can air fry them as well.
