Raksha Bandhan is about catching up with siblings and cousins, eating good food, and enjoying the day to the fullest. To make this occasion even more special, prepare delicious kheer at home and strengthen the bond with your brother and sister.
2 cups rice 1 litre milk 2 cardamom pods Sugar to taste ½ cup crushed dry fruits
Use a heavy bottom pan to boil milk. It should be clean and thoroughly washed.
Add sugar to taste when the milk is hot. It will dissolve faster.
Add washed and soaked rice once the milk comes to a boil.
Keep stirring the concoction if you don’t want malai to develop.
Check to see if grains are 80% done. Add crushed cardamom and dry fruits.
Let the ingredients cook on medium flame, garnish with saffron strands, and refrigerate. Serve the kheer cold.
