Rajasthani Mathri: A Perfect Snack For Your Teatime

Made with very few ingredients like all-purpose flour, carom seeds and baking soda, this crispy and tasty snack is perfect for your teatime. Here is an easy recipe to make mathri at home.

Ingredients

2 cups refined flour salt to taste ¾ tsp peppercorns, crushed 4 teaspoon ghee (melted) 16 peppercorns

Step 1

Add flour, salt and crushed peppercorns in a bowl with ghee. Mix well. Make a hard dough with water. Keep aside covered with a damp cloth for at least half an hour.

Step 2

Divide the dough into sixteen small balls and make puris with them. Prick them all over with a fork. Place a whole peppercorn in the centre.

Step 3

Heat ghee in a kadai. Fry the rolled mathris in batches until pale golden colour. Remove and drain on paper towels. Enjoy.
