This nutritious take on regular hot chocolate fortifies the drink with the goodness of ragi flour as well as adds a delicious nutty flavour to your beverage, which is best enjoyed alone, curled up on the couch.
½ cup sprouted ragi flour ¼ cup almond powder ½ cup dark cocoa powder 1 teaspoon cornflour
1 cup whole milk 1 stick cinnamon 2 tablespoons chocolate mix 2 tablespoons chocolate chips 2 teaspoons jaggery powder 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 2 teaspoons cornflour slurry 1 pinch salt
Roast the ragi flour until it loses its raw smell and turns fragrant.
Cool completely before mixing with the other ingredients for the chocolate mix.
Add the milk and cinnamon stick to a saucepan and simmer slightly.
Take a couple of tablespoons of the hot milk and mix with the chocolate mix before returning the slurry to the pan.
Stir constantly with a whisk as you add the chocolate chips, vanilla, jaggery powder and cornflour slurry.
Once it thickens visibly, turn off the heat and strain into a cup before adding the pinch of salt to bring out the sweetness. Drink when warm.
