Kaddu halwa, made with pumpkins is a rich traditional dessert. The Punjabi staple is a great way to add something sweet to your festive platter. Here’s how you can make kaddu halwa at home.
1 cup grated pumpkin 1 cup milk ½ cup ghee ½ cup sugar ¼ teaspoon ground cardamom A pinch of saffron 2-3 tablespoons chopped nuts for garnish
Grate fresh pumpkin. Heat some ghee and saute the grated pumpkin till it softens.
Pour in the milk and cardamom powder. Let it cook for 15-20 minutes till the mixture thickens.
Add sugar and stir till it dissolves. Mix in saffron and cook till consistent.
Turn off the heat and garnish with chopped nuts. Serve hot.
