Sattu Chilla, a savoury pancake made from roasted gram flour, is a nutritious and tasty dish hailing from the Indian subcontinent. This protein-packed delicacy is perfect for breakfast or a light snack. Take a look at the simple recipe here:
1 cup sattu 1 small onion, finely chopped 1 small tomato, finely chopped 1 green chilli, finely chopped 1/4 cup coriander leaves, finely chopped 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder Salt to taste Water as needed Oil for cooking
In a mixing bowl, combine the sattu with turmeric powder, red chilli powder, and salt. Add water gradually, stirring continuously to form a smooth, lump-free batter. The consistency should be similar to that of pancake batter.
Fold in the chopped onion, tomato, green chilli, and coriander leaves. Mix well to ensure even distribution of the vegetables.
Heat a non-stick pan or griddle over medium heat. Grease it lightly with oil. Pour a ladleful of the batter onto the pan and spread it evenly to form a thin pancake. Sprinkle a few cumin seeds on top.
Cook for 2-3 minutes until the edges start to lift. Flip the chilla and cook the other side until golden brown.
Serve hot with chutney, yoghurt, or ketchup.
