Maach Bhaja is a crispy fried fish, especially enjoyed during Durga Puja. Marinated with turmeric and chilli paste, it’s shallow-fried to perfection, making it an ideal side dish or evening snack.
250g Rui Maach (Rohu Fish) 2 tbsp turmeric paste 1 tbsp red chilli paste 1 tbsp salt 5 tbsp mustard oil
Wash the fish thoroughly and drain any excess water.
Marinate the fish with turmeric paste, red chilli paste, and salt. Let it rest for 30 minutes.
Heat mustard oil in a pan or karahi until hot for shallow frying.
Add the marinated fish pieces to the oil and fry until golden brown.
Fry 3-4 pieces at a time, repeating the process for all fish pieces.
Serve the crispy Maach Bhaja with a meal or as a snack with salad.
