Ganesh Chaturthi, a 10-day festival that began on 7th September, is marked by offering delicious bhog to Lord Ganesha. Among the favourites is the traditional Sooji Halwa, a simple yet divine dessert.
1 cup Sooji (semolina) 1 cup sugar 3 cups water 1/4 cup ghee 8-10 cashews 4-5 cardamom pods
Heat ghee in a pan, add cashews, and sauté until golden. Remove and set aside.
In the same pan, roast sooji on low heat until aromatic and golden brown. Boil water separately and slowly add it to the roasted sooji, stirring continuously.
Add sugar and cardamom pods, cooking until the halwa thickens and ghee separates. Garnish with sautéed cashews and serve warm for Ganpati Bhog.
