Ingredients

2 tbsp ghee 1 cup rice 2 cups water 1 cinnamon stick 1 tsp cumin seeds A pinch of salt 2-3 peppercorns 1 slit green chilli 2 cloves 1 bay leaf

Step 1

Rinse basmati rice with cold water to get rid of dirt and prevent the grains from being sticky.

Step 2

While you soak the rice for 20 minutes, boil water in another pan.

Step 3

Add a cinnamon stick, bay leaf, clove, and peppercorns.

Step 4

Once they release aroma, you can take them out or leave them in the boiling water.

Step 5

Fold in rice grains in the same water. While rice grains are cooked, prepare the tempering of cumin seeds and green chilli.

Step 6

Pour the tempering over the rice and let the ingredients cook until the grains expand and absorb all the water.
