Potato...check! Meat...check! Spices...check! Potato chops have everything you could ever ask for. So why would you be eating anything else?
For The Chop: 4 large potatoes, boiled and mashed 1 onion, finely chopped 1 teaspoon ginger paste 1 teaspoon garlic paste 1 teaspoon cumin powder 1 teaspoon coriander powder 1 teaspoon turmeric powder 1 cup breadcrumbs Salt to taste Oil for frying
For The Filling: 500gms ground meat or minced mixed vegetables 1 onion, finely chopped 1 teaspoon ginger paste 1 teaspoon garlic paste 1 teaspoon cumin powder 1 teaspoon coriander powder 1 teaspoon turmeric powder ½ teaspoon red chili powder Salt to taste 1 tablespoon oil
Heat some oil and add the chopped onions. Sauté until translucent then add the ginger and garlic paste cumin, coriander, and turmeric powder and mix.
Add the mashed potatoes and salt to the pan and mix. When cooled, take small portions of the potato mixture and shape into balls.
To make the filling, in another pan, saute more chopped onions with ginger and garlic paste until the onions are translucent.
Add the minced meat or vegetables and cook until its softened or browned then add cumin, coriander, turmeric, red chilli powder, and salt to the pan and mix.
When the mixture is cool, flatten the potato sphere and add a spoon of the filling to the centre and form a potato ball around it and roll it in breadcrumbs.
Deep fry till golden brown and crispy on the outside. Serve with your favourite dipping sauce.
