Poha Chiwda is a popular Indian snack made with flattened rice flakes, nuts, and spices. It is a delicious and crispy snack that can be enjoyed with a cup of tea or as a munchy snack during festive occasions.
2 cups poha ¼ cup peanuts 2 tbsp roasted chana dal 2 tbsp cashews, halved 2 tbsp raisins 1 tablespoon oil ½ tsp mustard seeds ½ tsp cumin seeds ¼ tsp turmeric powder ¼ tsp red chilli powder (optional) Salt to taste Curry leaves (optional) Sugar (optional)
Rinse poha under running water and drain well. Set aside for 10 minutes to let it soften.
Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. Once they crackle, add cumin seeds, peanuts, cashews, and raisins. Sauté until they turn golden.
Add roasted chana dal, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, salt, and curry leaves. Mix well.
Add the soaked poha to the pan and mix gently until all the ingredients are well combined.
Cook on low heat for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the poha becomes crispy.
Add a pinch of sugar if desired and then store in an airtight container.
