Perfect Makhani Gravy Recipe For Classic Indian Dishes

Makhani gravy is a North Indian sauce famous for its creamy texture and buttery taste. Made with tomatoes, butter, cream and spices, this sauce is the base for dishes like paneer makhani and butter chicken. Here is how to make this: 

Ingredients

4 tomatoes 1 tsp butter 1 tsp oil 1 tsp cumin seeds 2 tsp cashew nuts 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste 1 tsp red chilli powder ½ tsp turmeric powder Salt to taste ¼ cup fresh cream 1 tsp garam masala 1 tsp sugar Fresh coriander leaves

Step 1

Heat oil and butter in a pan. Add cumin seeds and let them crackle.

Step 2

Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté until the raw smell goes away.

Step 3

Add chopped tomatoes and soaked cashew nuts. Cook until tomatoes are soft.

Step 4

Add red chilli powder, turmeric and salt. Mix well and cook for 5-7 minutes.

Step 5

Blend the mixture and strain it back into the pan.

Step 6

Simmer the gravy and add fresh cream, garam masala and sugar. Mix well. Garnish with coriander leaves.
