Creating a delicious homemade pasta sauce is a rewarding way to elevate your pasta dishes. This simple, flavorful tomato-based sauce can be made with basic ingredients you likely have on hand. Follow these easy steps to prepare a rich and tasty pasta sauce that will make any meal special.
Finely chop 1 onion and 2-3 garlic cloves. Have 800g crushed tomatoes, 1 teaspoon of dried oregano, 1 teaspoon of dried basil, salt, pepper, and 1 tablespoon of olive oil ready.
Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic and sauté for another minute until fragrant. Pour in the crushed tomatoes and stir to combine with the onion and garlic.
Add the dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper to taste. Stir well and bring the sauce to a simmer. Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens and the flavours mix. Adjust seasoning as needed before serving.
