Simple and tasty Patichya Kandyachi is a Maharashtrian dish cooked with onions and besan (gram flour). It's a common accompaniment to dal-rice, chapati, or bhakri.
2 large onions, thinly sliced 1 cup besan (gram flour) 1/4 cup oil 1 tsp mustard seeds 1 tsp cumin seeds 1/2 tsp turmeric powder 1 tsp red chili powder 1 tsp coriander powder 1/2 tsp cumin powder Salt to taste Chopped cilantro for garnish
Take a bowl, add in the sliced onions, besan, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and salt.
Mix everything well and now coat the onions evenly with the spices. Now Heat oil in a pan.
Add in the mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Once they crackle, add the onion-besan mixture and stir well.
Cook on medium-low heat for 15-20 minutes until the besan is cooked and the onions are soft and golden brown.
Garnish with chopped coriander and serve hot with dal-rice or chapatis. Enjoy this Maharashtrian delicacy!
