Panjiri: A Punjabi Sweet Treat For Winter Season

This warm and nutritious sweet dish is a gift of Punjabi cuisine. It is made with whole wheat flour, ghee, dried fruits and herbal gums. Here is an easy recipe to make panjiri at home.

Ingredients

1/2 kg whole wheat flour, 1/2 kg ghee, 200 g chaar magaz, 100 g almonds, 1 tbsp ajwain, 1/2 tbsp dried ginger powder, 50 g makhana, 1 kg powdered sugar, 100 g gond

Step 1

Fry gond in the ghee until it puffs up. Now grind the gond very finely in a blender.

Step 2

In the same ghee, fry the makhana, almonds and magaz, one by one.

Step 3

Roast the flour and ajwain in the remaining ghee till a light brown.

Step 4

Switch off the heat and mix in the almonds, magaz, sonth, makhana and gond. Let it cool completely. Mix in the sugar and enjoy.
