A high-tea party is where you enjoy a hot or cold beverage with decadent on the side. It is an indulgent experience where you can have a gossip session with friends or catch up with your colleagues. Try this orange chocolate tea cake recipe.

Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour 1 tsp baking powder 1/4 tsp baking soda Zest of 2 oranges 1/2 cup thick curd/yoghurt 1/2 cup caster sugar 1/3 cup oil 1/2 cup fresh orange juice 100 grams of chopped chocolate 20 grams of chocolate chips

Step 1

Grease or line a 6-inch pan with parchment or baking paper. Preheat the oven to 180°C. 

Step 2

In a bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and the zest of two oranges. Keep it aside. 

Step 3

In another bowl, add the yoghurt, sugar and oil and mix well. Add half of the flour mix and half of the orange juice and whisk together. Add the remaining flour and orange juice and whisk till you have a smooth batter.

Step 4

Throw in half of the chopped chocolate chunks and the chocolate chips and fold into the batter. 

Step 5

Pour the batter into the prepared pan and tap the pan lightly on the countertop to remove any air bubbles. Add the remaining chocolate chunks and chocolate chips to the batter. 

Step 6

Bake for 35–40 minutes or until the cake starts to pull away from the sides or use a toothpick/skewer to test. Cool the cake on a wire rack and serve.
