If you are hungry and looking for a one-pot recipe, try rasam rice. The South Indian delight is comforting and a perfect treat for the soul and taste buds. Here is how you can make it.
1 tsp cumin, pepper ½ cup rice 1 tsp ghee, mustard seeds 2 tbsp toor, moong dal 2 tsp sambar/ rasam podi 1 chopped tomatoes 1 tsp hing 2 cloves of garlic 2 tbsp coriander leaves 1 tbsp tamarind paste 7-8 curry leaves 2 red chillies for tempering
Soak rice and dal for 15 minutes—meanwhile, heat oil in a pressure cooker.
Add hing, tomatoes, garlic, and chopped green chillies (optional).
Crush cumin seeds, pepper, and mustard seeds in a mortar and pestle.
Sprinkle these on the top along with sambar or rasam masala.
Drop soaked rice and dal into the mix along with water.
After cooking for a whistle or two, serve and enjoy the meal hot.
