Also known as moru vellam, this spicy buttermilk is served during an Onam sadya, to mark the end of the meal; and also makes for a great digestive to sip on.

1 cup yoghurt 2.5 cups water 1 green chilli, chopped 1-inch piece ginger, julienned 10-12 curry leaves, torn Salt, to taste

Using a whisk, remove all the lumps from the yoghurt and pour the water to mix well.

Add the remaining ingredients and season with some salt.

Refrigerate for at least one hour before stirring well and serving chilled.
