Khus Khus, also called poppy seeds, are tiny, rich seeds obtained from the opium plant. It is generally used in Indian cuisine to thicken and flavour vegetable preparations and also has herbal benefits. It adds a mild and nutty flavour to dishes and is a delicious way to nourish the body and enrich your culinary creations.
3 tbsp - Khus Khus/Poppy seeds 1 - Onion (Chopped) 1 - Tomato (Pureed) 2 cloves - Garlic (Minced) 1/4 tsp - Turmeric powder 1 tsp - Red chilli powder Salt - To taste 1 tbsp - Oil 1 cup – Water
Soak some Khus Khus in water for at least 4-5 hours. Grind the soaked seeds into a paste.
Heat some oil in a pan and then sauté onions & garlic until they turn golden brown.
Add tomato puree, turmeric powder, and chilli powder and cook until the oil separates.
Add a cup of water while stirring the paste and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
Flavour the tempting and nutritious curry with some salt and serve it with hot roti or rice.
