Rasam is a spicy and flavourful South Indian soup we all enjoy. Among the many rasam varieties that you love, have you ever tried beetroot rasam? This rasam is healthy and loaded with vibrant flavours. TAP TO VIEW the recipe!
1 small beetroot 1 tsp tamarind ¼ tsp jaggery 1 tsp rasam powder 2 green chilies Pinch of turmeric Salt 1 tsp oil 4 red chilies 1 tbsp coriander seeds ½ tsp fenugreek seeds 1 tsp cumin seeds 5 curry leaves ¼ cup grated coconut
To Temper 1 tsp oil ½ tsp mustard seeds Some curry leaves 2 tsp chopped garlic Little hing
Start by cooking beetroot in a pressure cooker until soft. When done, cube the beetroot and keep aside.
Then, soak the tamarind in hot water and extract juice. Add water and increase the quantity.
Add oil in a pan and roast whole red chilies, fenugreek seeds, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, grated coconut and curry leaves. Make a paste.
Heat a pan and boil tamarind water. Add the ground paste, rasam powder and other spices.
Let it froth and boil for a minute. Heat oil in a pan and temper with the mentioned ingredients. Add it to rasam and mix. Serve!
