Nungu Sherbat: The Summer Staple From South India

A summer fruit, tadgola or ice apple is known as nungu in the south Indian region. An almost translucent fruit, tadgola is soft and fleshy from the outside and juicy on the inside. 

While people prefer having the fruit as is, in South India, you would find a unique nungu sherbet being sold at every nook and corner.

Ingredients

4 nungu/ice apples 2-3 glass water Black salt and sugar, to taste 2 tsp lemon juice Ice cubes (optional) Mint leaves, to garnish 

Step 1

To make the juice, first peel the nungu fruit and crush in a bowl. 

Step 2

Add lemon juice, salt and sugar to it and mix well. 

Step 3

Now in a glass jar, add water followed by nungu mix and mix well. 

Step 4

Transfer the juice to a glass, garnish with mint leaves and add some ice cubes. Serve chilled.
