These Indian Temples Serve Non-Veg Prasad

Usually, when we think about prasad, we think of sweets or satvik food items. But here are some temples that serve non-veg prasad to the deities as well as devotees.

Vimala Temple

Fish from the holy Markanda temple tank is cooked and presented to Goddess Bimala during the Durga Puja festival. A  goat is sacrificed during early dawn hours is cooked and presented to Her.

Parassinik Kadavu Temple

Fish and toddy, a local alcohol, is served to the Lord as well as the devotees in this temple. It is said that whoever gives fish as prasad, gets his wish fulfilled.

Tarapith

,aa Tara, an incarnation of Maa Durga and Adi Shakti is worshipped in this temple in Bibhum, West Bengal. She is fed fish and it is later distributed as prasad among devotees.

Muniyandi Swami Temple

This temple, which is located in the small town of Vadakkampatti in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, serves mutton biryani as prasad to Lord Muneeswarar, an Avatar of Lord Shiva.

Dakshineshwar Temple

Another well known Shaktipeeth, Dakshineshwar temple in West Bengal also has fish as prasad, even though there is no animal sacrifice in the premises of the temple.
