Nimona To Nolen Gur – Summer Will Make You Miss Them

By Ranita Ray

Winter in India brings many seasonal vegetables, fruits, and ingredients, and several Indian dishes are prepared around them. Summer will make us miss 7 winter Indian dishes, like gajar ka halwa, nimona, to nolen gur and  more.

Nolen Gur

West Bengal prepares nolen gur, khejurer gur, notun gur, or fresh jaggery from date palm sap exclusively in winter. Nolen gur makes an array of desserts which go missing in summer.

Gajar Halwa

In winter, Indians make gajar halwa, a decadent dessert prepared with winter-grown red carrots. All-year carrots don't taste as good. We will miss gajar halwa in summer.
