Funny History

Dick Bradsel, a bartender at Soho Brasserie, invented it in 1983 after a prominent model asked him to make her a wake-up drink. He mixed coffee and vodka and crafted what he first termed the "Vodka Espresso."

Also Called Espresso Martini

After some time, the drink was rebranded as Espresso Martini, taking its new moniker from the V-shaped glass in which it is customarily served. Here is the recipe.

Ingredients

50ml vodka 25ml Frangelico 25ml Kahlua or any coffee liqueur 50ml freshly brewed espresso

Step 1

Take a cocktail shaker and fill it up with ice cubes. Pour all the ingredients into the shaker. Put the top back on the shaker, and shake it vigorously until it becomes frosted.

Step 2

Make sure you shake it well, so the cocktail has a nice foam on top. Pour the preferably cocktail into a V-shaped glass.

Step 3

Your unique Wake Me Up Cocktail is ready. Give the finishing touch by garnishing with a few coffee beans or grounded coffee
