When people fast during Navratri, they often consume samak rice. Since people give up grains, they look for alternatives like samak rice (made from buckwheat) and buckwheat (kuttu) flour. Here are some recipes you must try.
Using samak rice, vegetables of your choice, and a few spices, you can prepare a batch of nutritious and delicious khichdi.
Boil chickpeas and samak rice. Drain excess water and toss the ingredients in a bowl with olive oil, cumin powder, lemon juice, and fresh coriander leaves.
Rinse and soak samak rice. Toss them in a pressure cooker after sauteing vegetables in oil, cumin seeds, green chillies, and ginger.
Saute paneer or tofu in a skillet until the surface of the cubes turns brown. Saute a few other vegetables and add cooked samak rice to the pan.
Much like any breakfast burrito bowl, you can make a breakfast bowl with samak rice as well. Use vegetables, green chutney, and curd to make it delicious and nutritious.
Prepare a delicious mixture of boiled samak rice and vegetables. Stuff bell peppers with it and cook or bake them.
Samak rice can be used to prepare porridge which you can also offer to Goddesses and Gods during the Navratri celebration.
