Keeping a fast for nine days of Navratri 2023 is a good idea, but a few simple mistakes can turn this sattvik vrat into one that won’t benefit your health at all. Here are some tips to remember.

Including soaked nuts, dry fruits and seeds will ensure that you get plenty of nutrition while sticking to the fast rules.

Fresh fruits can be both hydrating and nutrient-dense, so consume 2-3 varieties of it during the 9-day fasting period.
If you are eating one meal a day, make sure it is light and not laden with spicy, deep-fried or sweet dishes.
Even when made with sattvik ingredients like buckwheat and sabudana, avoid deep-fried foods during Navratri 2023.
If you are eating one meal a day during Navratri 2023, ensure that it’s for lunch so that you have sustained energy.
Fresh fruit juices are loaded with natural but concentrated sugar which can cause sudden glucose spikes and crashes.
For those with blood sugar issues, sabudana needs to be combined with other ingredients and never eaten by itself.
Make sure you drink a cup or two of milk daily and also get some paneer and millet-based proteins.
