Namak Mirch Ka Paratha is a simple and flavourful Indian flatbread spiced with salt and red chilli powder. Made from whole wheat dough, it's rolled, folded, and cooked with ghee until golden brown. Perfect for a quick, spicy meal or snack, served with yoghurt or pickles.
2 cups whole wheat flour (atta) 1 tsp salt (namak) 1-2 tsp red chilli powder (mirch) 2 tbsp oil or ghee Water Ghee or oil
In a large mixing bowl, add the whole wheat flour, salt, and red chilli powder. Add 2 tablespoons of oil or ghee and mix it into the flour.
Gradually add water and knead the mixture into a smooth and soft dough. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15-20 minutes.
Divide the dough into equal-sized balls. Dust a ball with some dry flour and roll it out into a flat disc.
Brush the surface with a little ghee or oil, fold it in half, and brush again. Fold it into a triangle shape. Roll out the folded dough again into a triangle-shaped paratha.
Heat a tawa over medium heat. Place the rolled paratha on the tawa and cook until bubbles start to appear.
Flip the paratha and apply ghee or oil on the cooked side. Cook for a minute, then flip again and apply ghee/oil on the other side. Serve the Namak Mirch Ka Paratha hot with yoghurt, pickle, or any curry of your choice.
