Egg Kalakki, a delightful street food dish of Madurai features a folded and spiced omelette cooked to perfection, offering a delicious blend of flavours in every bite. This simple yet flavoursome creation is a quick and satisfying addition to your culinary repertoire.
1 whole egg A pinch of red chilli powder A pinch of turmeric powder A pinch of pepper powder A pinch of salt 2 tbsp plain salna/kurma for masala kalakki 1 tsp oil
Crack the egg into a bowl and add all the spices.
Whisk the egg along with the spices.
Heat an iron tawa. Once hot, apply oil and pour the beaten egg onto the tawa.
For masala kalakki, pour the salna in the middle. If you prefer plain kalakki, skip the salna and proceed to the next step.
Immediately fold the egg from all sides, creating a pocket and then cook until just set and serve hot with roti or pav.
