Want to keep your mushrooms fresh longer? With the right storage methods, you can extend their shelf life and enjoy them in your favourite dishes without waste. Here’s how!
Place mushrooms in a paper bag instead of plastic. Paper absorbs moisture, preventing mushrooms from becoming slimy.
Store mushrooms in the refrigerator’s vegetable drawer, where it’s cool and less humid.
Mushrooms absorb water, so only wash them right before cooking to avoid spoilage.
Gently wipe mushrooms with a damp cloth to remove dirt, instead of washing under water.
For longer storage, slice and freeze mushrooms. Frozen mushrooms are ideal for cooked dishes.
