Mumbai-Style Prawn Koliwada For A Spicy Weekend Binge

Spicy, slightly tangy and lip-smackingly delicious, this prawn starter from the Koli community of Mumbai is a must-have treat this weekend. Check out the recipe.

Ingredients:

200g prawns, shelled and deveined 1 tsp red chilli powder 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste ½ tsp salt ½ tbsp lemon juice For the coating: 1 tbsp refined flour ½ tbsp gram flour 1 tsp yoghurt 1 tsp red chilli powder Salt, to taste Oil, for frying

Step 1

Wash, clean and place the prawns in a large bowl.

Step 2

Add the red chilli powder, ginger-garlic paste, salt and lemon juice and mix well. Set aside.

In a separate bowl, place the refined flour, gram flour, yoghurt, red chilli powder and salt.

Mix everything well, then add the marinated prawns and mix again.

Heat the oil in a wok, then add the marinated and coated prawns to it.

Deep fry to perfection, then serve the Prawn Koliwada hot with chutney and salad.
