Mulled Wine: A Spice Infused Drink For Winter

This winter cocktail is prepared with red wine and various spices that are mulled together and served hot or warm, here is the recipe.

750 ml dry red wine, 1/4 cup brandy, 1 orange (sliced into rounds), 8 whole cloves, 2 cinnamon sticks, 2 star anise, 2-4 tsp sugar, honey to taste. For Garnishing: orange/lime, cinnamon sticks, star anise

Ingredients

Combine all the ingredients in a large saucepan and stir.

Step 1

Cook the mulled wine on medium-high heat until it reaches a simmer then reduce heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for 15 minutes.

Step 2

Using a fine mesh strainer, remove and discard the orange slices, cloves, cinnamon sticks, and star anise.

Step 3

Adjust the taste by stirring in extra sweetener.

Step 4

Serve warm in heatproof mugs, topped with your favorite garnishes.
