Most Indian meal starts with light, slowly becomes rich and heavy and ends on a sweet note with some desserts. Then comes the mouth freshner, often known as ‘mukhwas’ in Hindi. Unlike world’s notion of mouth freshner, which is usually spray or liquid, in India it is made of seeds, herbs and leaves which have health benefits. The best part is we can make ‘mukhwas’ at home too. Take a look:
Ajwain (carom seeds) Saunf (fennel seeds) Dhania (coriander seeds)
Take a cup of ajwain, saunf and coriander seeds and roast them on tawa.
Stir the mix continuously to avoid any burning. Make sure, tawa is on low-medium flame.
After spices are toasted well, switch off the flame and transfer it to a plate and let it cool. You can also add black salt to the mix for extra flavours.
Once the mix cools down, transfer it to an airtight container and consume it after meal.
