Moong Dal Khichdi: A Comforting Lunch For Lazy Sundays

Khichdi is hearty and comforting dish that is perfect to satiate your soul at any time of the day. Prepare it for lunch with this simple recipe.

Ingredients

1 cup rice (soaked), 1/2 cup moong dal (soaked), 2 tbsp ghee, 1 tsp cumin seeds, A pinch of asafoetida, 1 tbsp dhania (powdered), 2 tsp salt

Step 1

Heat the ghee in a skillet and add the cumin and asafoetida. Let them splutter and add the rice and dal mixture.

Step 2

Sauté well over high heat until excess water dries up. Add the coriander powder, salt and mix well.

Add 2 1/4 cups water and bring to a boil with lid on.

Reduce the heat and simmer the khichdi for 10 minutes. Serve hot with papad and pickle.
