Traditionally, idli is made with urad dal, but you can twist the recipe with moong dal. For a quick protein-rich meal, you can make moong dal idli with this easy recipe.
1 cup moong dal 1/4 cup chopped onion 1/4 cup chopped coriander leaves 2 green chillies 1/4 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste 1/4 teaspoon cumin seeds 1/4 teaspoon black pepper powder 1/4 teaspoon red chilli powder Salt to taste 1 tablespoon oil for tempering Water as needed
Soak moong dal. Drain the water and grind it into a smooth paste.
Heat some oil and saute cumin seeds, onions, and green chillies. Mix it with the dal paste.
Add coriander leaves, ginger-garlic paste, black pepper powder, red chilli powder, and salt.
Let the batter ferment for about 4 hours. Once fluffy, pour it into idli moulds.
Steam the idlis and serve with sambar and coconut chutney.
