This winter, if you are looking for protein-rich breakfast options, try the recipe for moong dal idli. It is a nutritious twist to the South Indian staple and can be served to guests without hassle.
½ tsp chana, urad dal 1 cup moong dal ¼ tsp turmeric powder 2 tbsp oil 1-inch ginger 1 tsp mustard seeds 1 cup rava A pinch of hing 1 tsp cumin, fruit salt 1 cup curd Salt to taste 1-inch ginger 7-8 curry leaves
Soak moong dal for 4-6 hours and grind it into a smooth paste.
Combine it with crud, rava, and water. Keep the batter aside for 20 minutes.
Prepare the tempering using chopped chillies, hing, ginger, mustard seeds, chana dal, urad dal, and curry leaves.
Temper the batter and mix it nicely. Add fruit salt to it.
Grease the idli pan and pour batter into the moulds.
After steaming idlis for 15-20 minutes, serve them hot with chutneys and sambar.
