Mooli Ke Parathe: A Hearty Meal For The Winter Chill

Mooli, or Radish, is a winter vegetable that helps in providing a warming meal experience any time of the day. Follow the simple steps to make this at home.

Ingredients

2 cups whole wheat flour (atta) Water (as needed) Salt (to taste) 2 cups grated radish (mooli) 1 tablespoon finely chopped green chilies 1 tablespoon chopped coriander leaves 1/2 teaspoon ajwain 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder Salt (to taste) Ghee or oil (for cooking)

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour, salt, and water. Knead the ingredients to form a soft and pliable dough.

Step 2

Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for about 15-20 minutes.

Step 3

Squeeze out excess water from the grated radish.

Step 4

In a mixing bowl, combine the grated radish, chopped green chilies, coriander leaves, carom seeds, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well.

Step 5

Take a small portion of the dough and roll it into a ball.

Step 6

Roll out the ball into a small disc, place a portion of the radish filling in the centre, and seal the edges to form a stuffed ball again.

Step 7

Roll the stuffed ball into a flat, round disc, ensuring the filling is evenly distributed.

Step 8

Heat a tawa or a non-stick pan on medium heat. Place the rolled paratha on the hot tawa and cook for a minute or until you see bubbles forming.

Step 9 

Flip the paratha and apply ghee or oil on the cooked side. Flip again and apply ghee or oil on the other side.

Step 10

Cook until both sides are golden brown and cooked through.
