The rainy season is the best time for the quintessential craving: chai and pakoras. If you want to spice up your tea time with something crunchy and delicious, try these palak dal ke pakoras.
3/4 cup Moong Dal soaked 4-5 green chilies 2 pieces of 1 inch ginger ¼ tsp asafoetida ½ tsp red chili powder Salt as per taste ½ tsp Cumin seeds ¾ tsp Fennel seeds ¼ cup chopped Cilantro ¾ cup chopped Spinach ½ tsp Chaat Masala ¼ -½ cup water ¼ tsp Baking soda Oil to fry
In a blender, blend together soaked Moong dal, ginger, asafoetida, chili powder, salt, cumin seeds, and fennel seeds to form a thick paste. Use water as required.
Pour the batter in a mixing bowl and stir the batter vigorously 3-4 times. To the batter add chopped green chilies, cilantro, spinach, chaat masala and baking soda. Mix well.
Heat oil in a deep frying pan/ kadai. Once hot drop spoonful of batter in the oil and fry until crisp and golden. Flip pakoras in between for cooking.
Once done remove them with slotted spoon and keep aside on a paper towel so the extra oil is soaked. Serve hot !!
