Monsoon Special: Crispy Lauki Pakora For The Season

Bottle gourd is a well-known green vegetable that is widely enjoyed during the monsoon. Here is an easy recipe to make bottle gourd pakora at home to pair with your evening tea.

Ingredients

½ cup bottle gourds (grated) 1 cup gram flour, 2 tsp rice flour, ½ cup onions (minced), 4 green chillies (finely chopped), 3 cloves garlic (chopped), 1 tsp ginger (chopped), a pinch of asafoetida, 1 tsp red chilli powder, ½ tsp turmeric powder, salt as required, 1 tbsp coriander leaves (fresh, chopped), oil as required

Step 1

Add salt to the grated bottle gourd, mix well and set aside for 15-20 minutes. Squeeze the gourd and transfer to a bowl.

Step 2

Then add both the flour, onion, garlic, chillies, spices, coriander leaves and salt into the bowl and mix well with a little water to make a smooth batter. Heat oil in a pan.

Step 3

Drop small portions of batter into the oil and deep-fry them. Once it turns slightly brown from the oil. Drain on absorbent paper. Serve with tomato ketchup.
