Mirchi Ka Achar: Spice Up Your Meals With This Homemade Recipe

Make this spicy, tangy Mirchi Ka Achar home with fresh red chillies and aromatic spices. It's the perfect accompaniment to elevate any Indian meal with bold flavours.

Ingredients

12-14 fresh red chillies 4 tbsp mustard seeds 5 tbsp dried mango powder 6 tbsp fennel seeds 3 tbsp fenugreek seeds ¼ tsp asafoetida 3 tbsp salt 2 tbsp turmeric powder 4-5 tbsp mustard oil (for masala) 1 cup mustard oil (for jar)

Step 1

Rinse and dry the red chillies thoroughly before removing their crowns.

Step 2

Slit the chillies and remove seeds and pith with a small spoon.

Step 3

Grind mustard, fennel, and fenugreek seeds into a coarse powder.

Step 4

Mix the powdered spices with dried mango powder, turmeric, asafoetida, and salt.

Step 5

Add mustard oil to the spice mix and stuff it into the chillies.

Step 6

Place stuffed chillies in a sterilised jar and pour the remaining mustard oil.

Step 7

Leave the jar in sunlight for 5-7 days, shaking it daily until the chillies soften.
