Mirchi Bajji: A Spicy Monsoon Snack From South India

This delicious snack made from green chillies is very popular in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. Here is an easy recipe to prepare mirchi bajji at home.

Ingredients

10 banana peppers (slit and deseeded) 1 cup gram flour ¼ cup rice flour 2 tsp chilli powder salt to taste ¼ tsp asafoetida 2 tsp ginger garlic paste Baking Soda a pinch Oil for deep frying Water as needed

Step 1

Boil water in a large pan with salt and take it off the heat. Drop the peppers in and cover it for 5 mins. Drain it and set it aside.

Step 2

Take all the ingredients except peppers and oil in a bowl. Add water slowly and make it into a thick batter. Heat the oil in a wok. Now dip the pepper in the batter.

Step 3

Drop pepper in and fry till golden. Drain it in paper towel. Serve.
