Vadas are the South Indian staple that can be savoured with sambar or with a chutney. To make them healthier, you can make them with a mix of millet in this easy recipe.
1 cup mixed millets 1/4 cup urad dal 1 onion 1 green chilli 1/2 inch ginger 1/4 cup chopped coriander leaves 1 tsp cumin seeds 1/2 tsp red chilli powder 1/4 tsp turmeric powder Salt to taste Oil for deep frying
Wash and soak millets and urad dal. Drain and grind it into a smooth batter.
Add chopped onion, green chilli, ginger, coriander leaves, cumin seeds, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, and salt.
Let the batter rest for about half an hour.
Heat some oil and deep fry small portions of the batter.
Once golden brown, drain on paper towels and serve with chutneys.
