Start your day with a wholesome, healthy and flavourful South Indian dish made with nutrient-rich millet and fresh vegetables. This classic millet upma is perfect for a hearty breakfast or a guilt-free meal.
1 cup millet, soaked & drained 2 cups water 2 tbsp oil 1 tsp mustard seeds 1 tsp cumin seeds 1 tsp chana & urad daal 1 onion, chopped 1 green chilli, chopped ½ inch ginger, chopped Chopped carrot, peas & beans Curry leaves Salt, coriander leaves, lemon juice
Wash, soak and roast the millets until aromatic and cook them in salt water until soft.
Heat oil in a pan, splutter mustard, cumin seeds, daal, chillies, ginger, and curry leaves.
Sauté onions, carrots, beans and peas until they turn soft.
Mix the cooked millet with veggies, add salt according to taste and cook for 3 minutes.
Top it up with coriander and lemon juice; serve hot!
