Millet laddus are a nutritious and wholesome treat made with roasted millet flour, jaggery, and ghee. Rich in fibre, iron, and essential nutrients, they provide a delicious way to incorporate millets into your diet. Perfect for a healthy snack or festive offering.
1 cup millet flour (ragi, bajra, or jowar) 1/2 cup jaggery 1/4 cup ghee 2 tbsp roasted peanuts or sesame seeds 1/4 tsp cardamom powder 2 tbsp chopped dry fruits
Heat 2 tablespoons of ghee in a pan. Add the millet flour and roast it on low heat for 8-10 minutes, stirring continuously until the raw smell disappears. Transfer the roasted flour to a bowl and let it cool.
In the same pan, melt the remaining ghee. Add the jaggery and stir on low heat until it completely melts. Do not overheat, as jaggery can harden.
Add the roasted millet flour, cardamom powder, dry fruits, and roasted peanuts or sesame seeds into the melted jaggery.
Mix everything well, ensuring the flour absorbs the jaggery mixture.
While the mixture is still warm, take small portions and shape them into round laddus using your hands. If the mixture is too dry, you can add a little more ghee.
Let the laddus cool down completely. Once set, store them in an airtight container. They can be enjoyed for up to a week.
